He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Schmid (Massey) and George Schmid. He is survived by: his wife Debbie; his son Jonathan (Reese); his brothers, Scott and Randy (Ellen); his nieces and nephews, Caleigh and Makayla; and his cousins, Stephanie (Mark) and Paul Welcomer (Catherine).
He retired in 2021 after being diagnosed with end stage renal disease and going on kidney dialysis after double covid pneumonia.
