He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis "Buss" Dowis and Rosine Dowis (Erfle); his sister Peggy Priestley; his niece Shauna Carter (Colonel); his great-nephew Christopher; his great-niece Darcy Green; and also Kiyah Nikohl Green-Toms.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon (Kelly); his children, Suzanne Sterling and Matthew Dowis (Elissa); his grandchildren, McKenna, Garrison Sterling, Savannah, Sydney, Madison, Meghan, Nathan and Noah Dowis; his brother-in-law Jim Priestley; and his sibling's children, Patti McKim, Kelly Green and Michael Priestley.
