Oscar "Oscarlito" Maldonado Jr., 25, passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona.
To know Oscarlito was to love him. His laughter, his energy, and his love for his family will forever live in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Though his time here was far too short, he will be remembered and loved for a lifetime.
Born on August 6, 1999, in Dunkirk, New York, Oscarlito moved with his family to Lorain, Ohio, at the age of eight. He was a vibrant young man with a big heart, a contagious smile, and an unforgettable presence.
Oscarlito was an avid sports fan who loved watching basketball and football. He also had a passion for cars, especially racing them, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His humor, energy, and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Hali Eve Maldonado; his father and stepmother, Oscar and Maryann Maldonado-Velasquez; his mother, Johanna Maldonado; and his siblings, Sandra Miranda (Daffe Charltray), Julissa (William Lara), Vanessa (Julian Thompson), Lían Oscar Maldonado, Felina M. Maldonado, Elija Maldonado, Víctor Collazo, Karissa Maldonado, Ramian G. Velazquez, and Rafael G. Velazquez. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Sebastian Charltray, Noelle Charltray, Italy Thompson, Jayce Thompson, and Araliyah Lara; his maternal grandparents, Olga Miranda and Pablo Miranda; and his paternal grandfather, Jose A. Maldonado Perez.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Felina Cruz, and by his nephew, Ocean Lara.
Oscarlito's life was a beautiful gift to all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
His family will receive friends at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 4 to 8 PM. His funeral will be in the funeral home Friday, August 8 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Lorain.
