William Theodore Hames Obituary

William Theodore Hames (Ted) passed away peacefully on Monday, June 08, 2026, at the age of 77.

Ted was the godson of Harper Lee, the famous author of "To Kill a Mockingbird"Ted was born in Anniston, Alabama, on July 20, 1948, to William Theodore Hames and Edith Hestle Hames.

Raised between there homes in Monroeville, Alabama and Jacksonville, Alabama.

He proudly served in the United States Army before settling in Phoenix, Arizona, with his partner of over 50 years, Colin Byerly.

Ted was preceded in death by his partner, Colin Byerly; his parents; and his brother, James (Jim) Hames. He is survived by many friends who love and miss him dearly.
