He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Rae Sr. and Elizabeth Frances Barnes Rae; his brothers, Robert Rae and Alexander Rae Jr.; his sister-in-law Diana Joan Bennett Rae; and his son-in-law Mike Cannon.
He is survived by: his wife Katherine Mae Sorrells; his children, Donna Cannon, Beth Cannon, Carrie Jordan (Mitch) and Thane Rae (Timberly); his grandchildren, Laura Verenakis (Jay), Leslie Presley (Jason), Cristi Griffin (Chad), Melanie Tomlinson (Matt), Jack Jordan (Beth), Mackenzie Watson (Ben), Topanga and Theron Rae; and his great grandchildren, William, Walker Verenakis, Caroline, Cooper Presley, Annistyn Griffin, Lanie, Mathew Tomlinson and Rylee Jordan.
