He is survived by: his wife Christina "Yolie" Chavez; his children, Ruben Gabriel Chavez Jr. (Melissa) of Safford, Frances Martinez Vargas (Anthony) of Tucson, AZ, Priscilla Erwin (Scott) of Tucson, AZ and Elena Chavez of Safford, AZ; his grandchildren, Derek Reyes, Selena Erwin (Lisa Erwin), Cyrria Erwin, Nisa Erwin, Sergio Rios, Aidan Erwin, Alijah Chavez, Aluisa Chavez, Corrina Felix (Alfred) and Alaina Vargas (Zach); and his siblings, Fernando Chavez (Patsy) of Lordsburg, David Chavez (Margaret) of Lordsburg, Martha Chavez of Lordsburg and Lucinda Chavez of Lordsburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
