He was predeceased by: his parents, Inocente Barela and Ida Benavidez Barela. He is survived by: his wife Esther Morales Barela; his children, Tina, Cynthia Barela and Jimmy Barela; and his sister Elizabeth Sims. He is also survived by five beautiful grandchildren.
