He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vander Ploeg and Lucille Vander Ploeg (Osinga); and his siblings, John (Yun), Donald Vander Ploeg (Edith Vander Ploeg) and Lois Meyer (Robert Meyer).

He is survived by: his nephew Donny Vander Ploeg; his children, Heather and Bryan; his wife Linda; his granddaughter Lily; and his siblings, Robert Vander Ploeg (Susan) and Joan Haak (Lenny).
