Dennis Busch wrote a sympathy message

“I am greatly saddened by the passing of Gahan, an artist I followed religiously. I met him in the late 1960s when I was an art director for Young & Rubicam, an ad agency. His personality and his art were equal. I asked him to price an illustration for an ad... He responded in a way that only he could do... "Thanks for your request. I'm sorry for the delay, but I had to consult the entrails of a sacrificial pigeon and came up with a price of $500." I still have his note. I'll never forget him!”
