He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Backman and Marie Backman (Sedergren); his wife Marjorie Ann Just; his siblings-in-law, Edward Just and Martha Padgett; and his siblings, Loren, Leonard Ronald, Gary, Elizabeth Tickler, Carol Miller, Linda Harper and Janet Anderson.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Amber Woodward (Tim), Julie Ballou (James), Stacie Mashburn (Cameron) and Mark Backman; his great grandchildren, Ayden Martin, Paityn Woodward, JJ Calathes and Zachary Calathes; his caregiver Jasmine; his sister Marilyn LaCombe; Glenda Backman, Michael Leonard Backman (Darla) and Anne Marie Martin (Joe). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
