He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harold E. Tately and Dorothy A. Brooks; and his brothers, Chuck of Los Angeles, CA, David of West Dennis, MA and Pete (Denise) of Harwich, MA. He was also cherished by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

“I worked with Steve at Peterson Air Force Base, where we both served as police K-9 handlers. Steve was a good friend and a stand-up guy in every way. He was always a bright light and was fun to be around. I reunited with Steve and Lisa (RIP) once after leaving the Air Force, but we stayed in touch occasionally via Facebook. I am saddened to learn of Steve's untimely passing. To his family, please accept my most sincere and heartfelt condolences on the passing of such a good and decent man.”
