He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Ivis Kennedy and Henry Ethel Kennedy (Muckelvane); and his siblings, Ike Kennedy, Bob Kennedy and Vera Mae Anderson.

He is survived by: his wife June Kennedy of Virginia; his daughters, Patrica McDonald (Joe) and Jill Ellis (Jerry); and his grandchildren, Shannon Hildrith (Jeff), Kimberly Watts (Jerod), Joseph "Gene" McDonald and Paul (Melanie).
