He was predeceased by: his wife Helen R. Hartdegen; his daughter Lynda Hartdegen; his parents, William Hartdegen and Elizabeth Hartdegen; his brother Bill Hartdegen; and his son-in-law Jerry Wheeler.
He is survived by: his children, Janet Hartdegen, Nancy Wheeler and Donald Jr. Hartdegen (Suzanne); his grandchildren, Joe Ebert (Maribeth), Melanie, Austin Wheeler (Amber), Bryan Wheeler (Hannah), Brenden Hartdegen (Amy), Matthew, Colleen and Caroline Hartdegen; and his great grandchildren, Jakob, Andrew, Ryan, Morgan Ebert, Noah, Owen, Levi, Sadie Wheeler and Cameron Hartdegen. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, as well as dear friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the O'Neil Funeral Home (1105 E 9th St, Lockport, IL 60441). A Mass was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Dennis Catholic Church (1214 Hamilton St, Lockport, IL 60441). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery (200 W Romeo Rd, Romeoville, IL 60446).
