He was predeceased by: his parents, Angelina Arroyo and Cristino Arroyo; his parents-in-law, Jessie and Antonio Gomez; his siblings-in-law, Albert Gomez and Elsa Estrada; and his niece Shanti Gomez.

He is survived by: his wife Natalia; his son Joe Mendola (Casie); his stepmother Irma Arroyo; his half-brothers, Aldo (Paola) and Cris Arroyo; his cousin Jose Melendez; his siblings-in-law, Alfred (Blanca), Abraham Gomez (Eva), Angie Odiaga, Alice Lisalda (Joe), Antonio Gomez (Carmen), Elizabeth Corral (Ernie) and Grace Gomez; and his pets, Cinnamon and Sugar.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Liver Foundation.
