Christopher Jan Szymanski Obituary

Christopher Jan Szymanski, 65, was born November 23, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, to Raymond and Dolores (Leniczek) Szymanski. He passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, in Tucson, Arizona, following a courageous battle against cancer. Chris is now sleeping in the arms of angels.

Chris spent his early years in Florida, moving to Texas while in his teens. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in Houston and then begin working in his life-long trade of carpentry.

In 1987, Chris moved to Phoenix, Arizona. There he met the love of his life, Deidra Jones. They were married on October 28, 1988, in Phoenix. Chris and Deidra were blessed with a son, Keith Christopher. The family remained in Phoenix until 1993 when they relocated to Tucson.

Chris loved his work as a carpenter and was a proud union member of Carpenters Local 1912. He had a wonderful rapport with his team and enjoyed joking around with the guys.

A genuinely kind and generous man, Chris found his happiness in making others happy. He could fix most anything and found joy in helping and serving others. He also used his professional skills to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. When he wasn't working or tinkering around in the garage, Chris enjoyed trout fishing and—when given the opportunity—scuba diving.

Chris will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a beloved son and brother, and a great friend.

He is survived by his dear wife, Deidra; his son, Keith; sisters, Elizabeth Coker, April Szymanski, and Cheryl Matteson; brothers, Andrew and Brian Szymanski; godparents, Laurence and Louise Leiczek; and numerous nieces and nephews. His brothers, Raymond, Donald, and Patrick preceded him in death.

Friends may, if they wish, donate in his memory to the Habitat for Humanity.

A Celebration of his life will be scheduled at a future date.
