He was predeceased by: his parents, Eli C. Leyba and Prudencia Leyba; his son Cristobal S. Leyba; his siblings, Juan Leyba and Ruth Abels; and his brother-in-law John Abels.

He is survived by: his wife Manuela "Nellie" Murguia Leyba; his children, Gregorio P. Leyba (Yolanda), Consuelo A. Leyba and Marina I. Leyba (Miguel); and his brother Gilbert Leyba (Clara). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
