He was predeceased by: his parents, Abelardo Duarte and Josefina Duarte; and his sister Linda Necochea. He is survived by: his wife Elsa G. Duarte; his children, Lupita Encinas (Juan Encinas), Zorina Wasilewski (Leonard Woehr), Marisela Lindley (Sebastian Lindley) and Alejandro Ramirez (Christina Ramirez); his great grandchildren, Irely Ramirez, Hazel Wasilewski, Amari Ramirez, Easton Wasilewski and Brooklyn Wasilewski; and his pets, Chacho and Baby. He is also survived by pops, daddy, tata, great-grandfather, and friend.
