She was predeceased by: her parents, Juan Gonzalez of Dios Fontes Galaz and Manuela Brigida Castro Gonzalez; her husband Joaquin Islas; and her daughter Helen Islas. She is survived by: her sons, Joaquin (Maria), Raul (Cook), Steve, Juan Carlos (Pachi), Raymond (Moni) and Coltron (Bethany); and her siblings, Josefina Fontes Guerrero, Loly Fontes Méndez, Cecilia Fontes and Fernando Fontes. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Martinez Funeral Chapels - Tucson (2580 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713). A Mass will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Augustin Cathedral (192 S Stone Ave, Tucson, AZ 85701). A burial will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Holy Hope Cemetery (3555 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705).
She had a special place in her heart for those less fortunate and frequently traveled to Mexico to donate clothing, food, and other necessities to people in need.
