He was predeceased by: his mother Harriet Owen Winder, MD; his wife Kathy (Kathy); his stepdaughter Ann Williams (Chip); his brother Paul Winder; and his stepsister Normie Kane.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kay Jagelavicius (Ralph) and Amy Winder; his stepchildren, Wesley and Lee Derbyshire; his siblings, Ann Winder, Allan Winder (Teresa), Tom Winder (Carolyn), Carl Winder (Mimi), Mary Winder (Adah Miller) and Normie Rockwell; and his stepsisters, Allie Neff (David) and Flo Friender. He is also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

There he received a B.S. in Mathematics after another two years, as well as a National Science Foundation Fellowship to attend graduate school.
