It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elvira Lara in Winslow, Arizona, who passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 62, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Fabian Lara and Tirza Lara (Lozoya); and her brothers, Fabian and Juan. She is survived by: her sons, Robert Cavazos (Judy) of Arizona and Michael Cavazos of Florida; and her siblings, Ignacio Lara, Fernando Lara, Fred Lara (Gloria), Benjamin Lara (Pamela), Esther Lara-Sistos (Pete) and Leslie Lara. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews.
Beyond her professional life, she was recognized and awarded the Molly Pitcher Award—an honor bestowed upon individuals who have made significant voluntary contributions to the Field Artillery Community.
