He was predeceased by: his parents, Forrest Hoffarth and Harriett Hoffarth; his siblings, Jack Hoffarth (Mary) and Eileen "Kay" Kleine; his siblings-in-law, Nancy Smith (Al), Hazel Finley (Bill) and Donald Myers; and his nephews, Kenny Hoffarth and Jimmy Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Anita; his children, Barbara Whitney (Mike), Robert Hoffarth Jr. and Brenda Granger (Ken); his sister-in-law Sandra Myers-Finley (Donald); his grandchildren, Jesse Gurrola (Andrea), Robert M. Gurrola (Kristie), Tiffany Gurrola, Stephaine Granger, Kaylie Di Pietro (Andrea), Megan Drawec (Andrew) and Madison Granger; his great grandchildren, Hayley Chapman, Ashton Gurrola, Kelsey McIntire, Aolani Gurrola, Kendall Gurrola, Charlie Granger, Luca Di Pietro and Gracey Davenport; his great great grandchild Anthony Reyes; and his nephew David Myers.

He donated many years to volunteering at the American Legion, including working the Legion food booth during the Yuma County Fair.
