With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ida Mae Kempel (Alameda, California), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 18, 2026 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Bergman and Mary Bergman (Perius); her husband Walter; and her children, Mary Jo, Lawrence and Paul (Mary).
She is survived by: her children, Charlene (Gary), Michael (Theresa), Robert (Mary), Karen (Steve), Annette (John) and Rachel; and her sisters, Dolores and Elizabeth. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Basilica on Thursday, February 5th at 11:00am, In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Basilica.
