It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Jean Ames in Arcata, California, born in White, South Dakota, who passed away on March 30, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Albert Johnson and Ella Johnson; her husband Bob Ames, Jr. (West); her sisters, Patricia (Don Olson) and Janet (Bert Ames); and her sons, Guy Ames and Brad Ames.

She is survived by : her family, Bob, Debbie Cochran, Mike and Barb Allen; her daughters, Carolyn Walkner (Mike) of McKinleyville, CA and Kathy Sherwin (Ray) of Crescent City, CA.; her grandchildren, Tiffany, Elliott Ward, Cicely Ames (Jaimal Kordes), Rachel Armstrong (Brad), Adrian Sherwin (Kate Garnaas) and Guy Walkner (Ashley); her great grandchildren, Casey, Cody Pace, Houston Ward, Tatum, Baylee, Callie Walkner, Grady and Hadley Armstrong; and her great great grandchildren, Sera, Solomon Lutrick and Nathaniel Pace.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Del Norte County Veteran's Cemetery (400 E Cooper Ave, Crescent City, CA 95531).
