Mark Brown wrote a sympathy message

“Gerry,I never had the pleasure of meeting you personally. I have several (well maybe only a few) pals that I have met over the years. several on Honor Flight Bay Area, #30 & 31 and have been awed by some of the tales I was priveldged to have shared with me. Thank you, my brother, for your service to our wonderful United States of America. I have heard many first hand tales of the Chosin Reservoir our USMC & USA and the many trials you men (and a few women nurses) endured. May God rest your soul.”
