He was predeceased by: his parents, William Claude McMasters and Mary Idell McMasters; and his sister Myra June Heard. He is survived by: his significant other Gail Johnston; and his siblings, David Anthony McMasters of Seymour, Tennessee, Sharon Dan of Destin, Florida, Jackie Botwinick of Memphis, Tennessee, Terry White of Hernando, Mississippi, Pam Shuburte of Memphis, Tennessee and Janice Capshaw (Janie) of Seymour Tennessee. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
