He was predeceased by : his wife Pauline Louise Folkens (Schade); his parents, Pieter and Anna Fokkens (Feenstra); and his sisters, Pearl Ann Hardersen and Jeannette Lilly of Enumclaw, Washington..

He is survived by : his sons, Pieter Folkens (Ellen) of Benicia and Karl Folkens (Nell) of Florence, SC; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Folkens of Cayce, SC, Arend Pieter Folkens (Lauren) of Ooltewah, TN, Anna Folkens (Dave Streng) of Charlotte, NC and Alysen Folkens of Benicia; his great grandchildren, Louie Dinndorf of Florence and Amelia Folkens of Ooltewah; his godchildren, David Bond and Sherrill Marshall; and his close friend Barbara Hoffman of Oakmont. He is also survived by many nephews and a niece.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choosing.
