He was predeceased by: his wife Oralia Mata; and his children, Joe A. Mata, Evelyn Mendoza and Julia Mata. He is survived by: his close friend Margaret Valenzuela; his children, Rosemary (Epifanio), Sandra, Irene (Manuel), Ruben (Monica) and Monica (Rob); and his brothers, Tony and Fidel. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Frye Chapel (799 S Brawley Ave, Brawley, CA 92227). A burial will be held on Tuesday, November 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Riverview Cemetery (4700 Hovley Rd, Brawley, CA 92227).
