He is survived by: his wife Alice Cynthia Montanez (Valenzuela); his son David DeCaires; and his siblings, Eddie Montanez, Elizabeth "Doll" Montijo (Montanez) and Thomas "Tommy" Montanez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and members of the Romero family.
