He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Smethurst and Matilda Smethurst. He is survived by: his wife DeAun Smethurst; his children, Laura, Kevin and Monica; and his stepchildren, Daneille and Michael. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Santa Clara County Valley Medical Burn Center.
