Sutherland will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Sutherland will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Sutherland’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Debbie (David White), Mike (Pam Simpson) and Gordy (Jennifer Simpson); his grandchildren, Taylor White (Shaelynn), Carter Simpson, Danika and Ryan Simpson; and his parents, Dr. Sutherland Eric and Alberta Simpson. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 14th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Bidwell Presbyterian Church (208 W 1st St, Chico, CA 95928).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the North Valley Health Education Foundation Scholarship in memory of Janet and Sutherland Simpson.
