He was predeceased by: his parents, Bessie Porter and Jessie Porter; his stepfather John; his siblings, Mary, Alice, Lila and Johnny; and his grandson David.

He is survived by: his wife Lori; his children, Kristen (Mariam), Kelly (David) and Jon David; his grandsons, Zach (Ariel), Garrett and Noah; and his great grandchildren, Anthony David, Kyler and Kaylynn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
