He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Ponta and Irma Ponta; his wife Pat; and his brother Melvin Ponta. He is survived by: his children, Jeff Ponta (Donna) and Sue Marcucci (Rich); his grandchildren, Alex (Alex), Riley, Katie Vogt (Max) and Anna Smith (Dylan); his extended family, Marcella Ponta, John Ponta (Dolly) and Juliane Deary (Tim); Sadie Vogt, Ellie Smith, Shelby, Tyler (Lauren), Grace and Elijah.
