He was predeceased by: his wife Laura; his parents, Joseph Carlson and Margaret Carlson; and his brother Dave. He is survived by: his sister Adele Adams; his sons, Joseph (Robin), Phillip and Curtis (Chris Hakenkamp); and his grandchildren, Joseph (Kendall Wilson), Kevin, Elizabeth and Eric.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the Oakmont of Montecito (4756 Clayton Rd, Concord, CA 94521).
