He is survived by: his daughter Valerie Owens-Wright of Los Angeles, CA; his grandchildren, Richard Echols Jr. of South Burlington, VT and Raya Owens-Buchbinder (Seth) of Old Bridge, NJ; his great grandchildren, Sophie and Jacob Buchbinder of Old Bridge, NJ.; his nieces, Jilene Coggins of Stonecrest, GA, Kim Coggins (Tommie) of Atlanta, GA and Renee Brown of Decatur, GA; his great-nephew Kingston Smith of Lithonia, GA; and his stepchildren, Daniel Hightower of Las Vegas, NV, Evan Hightower of Los Angeles, CA, Eugene Hightower of Los Angeles, CA and Suzarn Hightower of Los Angeles, CA.. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Kaiser Permanente Watts Counseling and Learning Center.
