It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John H. Deaner of Dana Point, California, born in Danville, Pennsylvania, who passed away on July 21, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Haydn M. Deaner and Grace R. Deaner (Engle); and his brother Dr. Richard Deaner of Dana Point, CA.. He is survived by : his wife Joan Dormer-Deaner of Graceville, Florida; his children, Kimberly Mathis of Hixon, Wendy Barentt of Lynn Haven, Florida, Victoria McDonald of Sugar and Michael of St. Augustine; his sister-in-law Beverly Deaner of Dana Point; his nephews, Ross and Bruce Deaner; his niece Karen Corbett (Deaner); his grandchildren, Jenny Gibbs, Tiffany Bertram and Jacob Kelley; and his stepgranddaughters, Catherine Mersey and Skyler Prall.
In the early 1990s, he served as Executive Director of the Ferris Foundation for Graduate Education, a non-profit scholarship foundation affiliated with Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Mr. Deaner was the Foundation's chief representative to government, business and academic institutions in the United States, the Republic of Ireland and the UK Provence of Northern Ireland.
