It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Lou Spain (Dos Palos, California), who passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Loren Atkins and Mildred Atkins (Hume); her former husband John Gale, Jr.; her son Loren Gale; and her siblings, Joyce Spain, Betty Sue Cheshier-Nichols, Linda Avedisia and Forrest Atkins.
She is survived by: her husband Ara Lee Spain; her children, Ellen Gale Martin of Dexter, OR, Marilyn Pyke (Greg) of Washington and Brook Gale (Olivia) of Fresno, CA; and her stepchildren, Ron Spain (Cheryl), Karen Spain and Russell Spain (Kathy). She is also survived by 9 grandkids, 7 Step-Grandkids, 22 Great Grandkids, 14 Step-Great Grandkids and many family and friends.
They lived on Bryant Road for 17 years before Mary Lou had a major stroke, during the height of Covid.
