The family announces the passing of Robert E. Bennett of Fairfield, California on September 11, 2026. Robert, born on May 20, 1945, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. Robert will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Though Robert is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. Robert’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He is survived by: his children, Stewart Bennett, Sr. of Columbus, GA, Senikka Bennett Caldwell of Warsaw, NC, Yvonne Perry of Garner, NC, Maria Frederick of Apex, NC and TuWona Milhouse of Gainesville, VA; and his siblings, Mary Bennett Sutton of Rocky Mt, NC and Nelia Bennett, Sr. of Fairfield, CA. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Worley Funeral Home Chapel (639 Lisbon St, Clinton, NC 28328). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Lisbon St. Missionary Baptist Church (401 Lisbon St, Clinton, NC 28328).
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Sampson High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, in memory of Robert Elisha Bennett (Sampson High School Class of 1963, Life Member #65).
