He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Raymond Heaney and Genevieve Moore; his son Thomas Heaney (Aimee); and his great grandchildren, Sydney and Haley Higa.
He was a leader in the National Contract Management Association from which he received a Fellowship Award for his contributions to the organization and to the profession.
