He was predeceased by: his parent Mittie Amerson Powe; his wife Ernestine Long Anderson; his son Michael Amerson; his siblings, Ruben Thomas, Willie B. Amerson, Joseph Amerson and Dorothy Mae Jackson; and his niece Barbara Jean Walker.
He is survived by: his sons, Lionel Amerson, Calvin Thompson of Moss Point, MS and Jeffery Amerson of Inglewood, California; his siblings-in-law, Joann Long Hayes, Shirley Long Brown of Moss Point, MS, Jack Bettis of Moss Point, MS and Edward Long of Atlanta, Georgia; his nieces, Beverly, Thelma Cowan, Velda "Ree" Pollard of Moss Point, MS, Deborah Dudley (Don) of Gulfport, MS, Markeshia, Monique, Monica Cowans and Shellie Hubbard Hayes of Gulfport, MS; his nephew Frank Sims of Flint; Elmira Murray of Moss Point, MS. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Unity Funeral Home Chapel (4007 Main St, Moss Point, MS 39563).
