He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul McGill and Edna McGill; his daughter Marcia Anne McGill; his brother Robert McGill; and his grandson Richard Bates.

He is survived by: his son Paul Douglas McGill; his wife Mimi McGill; his stepdaughter Shelley Holland; his grandson Shawn Bates; his stepgrandson Derick Holland; and his sister Ruth Cryder. He is also survived by many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
