It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Kimiyo Tahira Dowell (Lafayette, California), born in Concord, California, who passed away on December 1, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Kimiyo leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She is survived by: her children, Michelle Cole (John), Tracy Balazs (Mike), Kiyomi Endo and Bill Endo (Shari); her family, Jim Dowell (Justine), Tony Dowell and Loren Dowell (Emily); and her brothers, Jerry Tahira (Joyce), Ted Tahira (Shigeko) and Cosmo Tahira. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Oakmont Memorial Park (2099 Reliez Valley Rd, Lafayette, CA 94549). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Concord (1965 Colfax St, Concord, CA 94520).
