He is survived by: his parents, John Crooks and Shirley Crooks; his sister Madeline; his former wife Tamara; and his children, Alexandra and Aden.
Following a downsizing at Diablo Magazine after the pandemic, he continued to write for the magazine as well as several other Bay Area publications.
