He is survived by: his wife Judith Mader Kroll; his daughters, Kelle Kroll, Dr. Gigi McConnaughey, Wendi Kroll and Elaina Bertrand; his grandchildren, Caitlin Remmel, Jacqueline Remmel, Chandler Gohres, Cassi Gohres, James McConnaughey, Ryan Remmel, Jenna McConnaughey, Kyle McConnaughey and Aubrey Bertrand; his great grandchildren, Leo and Ethan Remmel; and his sibling Marilynne Treadaway.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to Water's Edge Pregnancy Care Center in Homer, Alaska.
