She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Heimbuck and Anna Heimbuck; her husband John Gates; and her brother Larry. She is survived by: her sisters, Barbara Zumbrennen of Casper and Shirley Goehring of Lodi. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
