He was predeceased by: his brothers, James and William. He is survived by: his wife Valerie; and his children, Maryann Donovan (Robert), Susan Wagner (Daniel), Barbara Piwowarski (Zygmont), Linda Castle (Allan Wilcox), Kathleen Castle and Thomas Castle (Layla). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
