He was predeceased by: his wife Eva Moitoso Soares; and his siblings, Léo Soares, Avelino Soares, Maria De Jesus Higashi and Herculano Soares.
He is survived by: his children, Judith Chaves (John) of Idaho and Geraldina Alvernaz (Eddie) of San Jose; his grandchildren, Michael, Steven Chaves, Stephanie DaRosa (Michael), Robert Alvernaz and Cristina Chaves; his great grandchildren, Jayden DaRosa and Mason Chaves; and his siblings, Palmira Dutra of San Jose, Conceição Carepa of San Jose, Etelvina Vargas of San Jose, Olimpia Mendonca of San Jose, Judy Goulart of San Jose, Lucia Soares of Portugal, António Soares of Faial, Lino Soares of Los Banos and Mario Soares of Elk Grove. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
