He was predeceased by: his parents, Domingo Alvarez Castillo and Guadalupe Gaytan Bernal; and his son Carlos Alvarez Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Maria Benita Alvarez (Castro); his children, Alicia Alvarez, Nancy Alvarez, Celia Alvarez-Spurgeon (John), Sonia Alvarez and Arturo Alvarez (Carolina); his grandchildren, Melinda Ortiz (Hector), David Adam Castro, Carli Alvarez, Nicholas Martinez, Arturo Jr. Alvarez, Antonio Alvarez (Lizzie) and Alejandro Alvarez (Maddy); and his great grandchildren, Christian Ortiz, Marco Ortiz and Julian Ortiz.

Viewing was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Jay Chapel (1121 Roberts Ave, Madera, CA 93637). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
