He was predeceased by: his daughter Mary Cruz Contreras; his parents, Camilio Villanueva and Ysavel Villanueva; and his sisters, Julia Brown and Frances Hernandez.

He is survived by: his wife Nina; his son Louie Villanueva; and his brothers, Steve (Kelli Villanueva), Nash (Nancy Villanueva) and Paul (Gabina Villanueva). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
