Arnold Jesse Gore Obituary
A. Jesse Gore of Monterey, CA, and Anchorage, AK, died at home in California on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 . He was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on November 9th, 1961. He was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and was raised in Anchorage beginning in 1964. He attended Woodland Park Elementary, Romig Jr. High School, graduated West Anchorage High School where he was a standout student and athlete, earning many accolades in track and field.
He attended the University of Idaho in Coeur d'Alene where he also ran track and earned Associates Degree in general science and athletic training. He then moved to McMinnville, Oregon, to attend Linfield College on a track scholarship excelling in the 400 and 800 meters and the relay teams. He graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor degree in exercise science and a minor in mathematics.
Returning to Alaska he was a dedicated softball player and member of the Anchorage Softball Association. He also spent many hours volunteering his time for track meets in both Alaska and Oregon. Professionally he held a variety of careers. Jesse owned and operated a sports cards and memorabilia shop in Anchorage. He worked as a manager and rehab liaison at local Physical Therapy offices and was also a personal trainer at Sports Fitness Centers. Using his education, he was an adjunct instructor for Alaska Pacific University teaching fitness classes and weight training. He had clients as a math teacher and private tutor. Prior to leaving Anchorage, Jesse delivered for Fed Ex.
He then moved to the Monterey Peninsula in CA, and joined the management team at Spanish Bay Health Club at Pebble Beach. In 2000, he became a caddie at Pebble Beach Golf Course where he worked for 23 years. He enjoyed being a caddie and meeting people from all over the world, many of his clients through the years became lifelong friends.
In 2010, he met and made his home with Melanie Barney in Carmel by the Sea, CA. In 2021 they added the love of his life, a black cocker spaniel named Sammy Bear that Jesse adored. They traveled to Alaska to visit when time allowed.
He was a simple man with a kind and loving soul with many friends and family who will deeply miss him. He is survived by his brother Bruce Gore and sister Debbie Blanchard, both of Cantwell, Alaska. He will be missed by one uncle and three aunts, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Bruce K. Gore, mother Pauline Gore, brothers K.Wayne. Gore and Jim H. Gore, and sister Carolyn Gore Pike. His family is planning a fall memorial in Cantwell where his ashes will be joined with those of his family members who preceded him in death.
