He was predeceased by : his mother Alberta Mathany. He is survived by : his father Mike Mathany; his sisters, Debbie White and Linda Mathany; his nephew Jared White; and his nieces, Jamie Edwardson and Jenae White.

“I was Rob's "battle buddy" at Ft. Leonard Wood MO, and graduated with him during our first class at AIT in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. I saw his photo in a webpage from his obituary and remembered the day that the photo was taken. I recently started looking up soldiers I served with and saw that Rob had passed. My condolences to his family. He was a good man, we had great times in Basic and AIT. Rest in Peace Rob. Ruben Jimenez US Army Counterintelligence 89-92.”
